Exotic Hibiscus 'Revelry'

As its name suggests, exotic hibiscus 'Revelry' is a wild one! The flower is a 5-7" double that blooms in an ever-changing, dancing mix of yellow, orange, hot pink and even sometimes white. The patterns of the spots, splashes and ruffles vary with temperature, sunlight and humidity. These three flowers bloomed in the same pots in our greenhouse, showing all these quite different looks. Whatever the look though, 'Revelry' always looks like a raucous party full of movement and color! 'Revelry' is a loose, cup-and-saucer double, the type of double that blooms best in hot summer heat, which is a huge advantage for all of us in hot climates. It has the advantage of showing off its full petals like a single hibiscus, while adding in all the extra ruffly petals of a double. Interestingly, the seed parent of 'Revelry' is the rather sedate blue and pink hibiscus 'Magic Crystal.' 'Revelry' clearly takes after its pollen parent 'Island Queen,' another loose cup-and-saucer double in similar colors. But 'Revelry' throws out spots, splashes and ruffles everywhere, with a wild abandon than neither of its parents exhibit! The bush is upright and medium sized. Released from HVH in 2019.
