'Whisper Soft'

From time to time we dip back into the strong gene pool of established garden variety hibiscus and cross a garden variety hibiscus with a modern hybrid that could benefit from the gene infusion. 'Whisper Soft' is the result of such a cross. We used the popular 'San Diego Yellow' that blooms in hedges all around San Diego and crossed it with the show winning 'Gator Pride.' The result is a strong, easy-to-grow, vigorous, and very floriferous plant, as well as a 5-7" flower that is larger than either parent has. The lavender body color comes from 'Gator Pride, although in 'Whisper Soft' it is softer and more subtle. Released from HVH in 2010. |
