Weeds are a problem in almost all gardens. The seeds blow in on the wind, or are carried into the garden by pets and other animal visitors. The spring rains and warmer weather cause the weed seeds to germinate, and suddenly everywhere you look they are sprouting up out of the ground. If your garden is small or exceptionally well tended, you may not have many weeds to deal with. In that case carefully pulling them up, root and all, is probably the best way to get rid of them. However, if like us you have a larger area planted with hibiscus, or a bumper crop of weeds, you can save a lot of time and do a more effective job by using weed killer on the weeds.

The new formulation, Roundup Extended Control has two new ingredients that we are excited about:
- It creates a weed barrier on the surface of the soil where it is sprayed, so any seeds on the soil surface will be prevented from growing.
- Within 1-2 days of spraying, you will see a burned effect on the weeds you sprayed. If you have used the old Roundup formulation, you'll know the frustration of trying to remember which weeds you have already sprayed, and having to wait 1-2 weeks to be able to see the burn effect on the weeds. This new formulation still takes 1-2 weeks to completely kill the weed, but you can see damage in the first two days, so you'll know exactly where you've already sprayed.
