Exotic Hibiscus 'Shockwave'

'Shockwave' shocks the senses with giant 8-10" flowers in electric red and yellow. This variety is the result of crossing two famous Australian varieties, 'Rosalind' and 'Work of Art.' In 'Shockwave' we have the flower of 'Work of Art' and a slightly improved bush due to the influence of 'Rosalind.' The bush is tall and stout, but resists branching unless pruned and pinched a lot when young. The flowers are vividly spectacular when they reach full size. They show the rare picotée effect, particularly in hot summer weather when the yellow is most prominent and the red recedes to the edge of the flower. Released from HVH in 2010.
