A Beautiful, Old 'Kona' Bush Growing above a 6' Fence

'Kona' is a classic hibiscus variety that can be seen as a landscape planting in southern California, where many of the decades-old bushes are now as large as trees. It is no longer commonly found in garden centers, but remains one of the prettiest variety hibiscus. The flower is a 5-7" pink double, and on occasion the bloom is pleasantly scented. Like all popular garden varieties, 'Kona' is a good bloomer on a full, upright, and attractive bush. Over time it can grow very large, but is not a super fast grower. 'Kona' can be tricky to grow in cool winter weather and does not like a chill. Hybridizer: Unknown
