Almost extinct in the wild due to introduced plant diseases and pests, lack of pollinators, interbreeding with introduced species and the loss of habitat, H. liliflorus still survive and thrive in botanical gardens and private collections. For the home grower H. liliflorus is a satisfying plant to grow. It blooms well at all times, although it prefers medium temperatures. Its flowers will be smaller when the temperature regularly reaches above 95F. H. liliflorus' bush grows up to 4-5 feet tall, with a somewhat spreading growth pattern. It responds well to pruning and will branch out profusely. The bush is often covered with bright pink flowers that reaches up to 6" in width and last for 1-2 days.
